Today, one of our agents here at the office, Joe Woodington, explains how to prepare your house for sale. Our last video was about painting your home, but now, we're going more in depth. Joe has recently sold his house, so he knows all about the process.

Many people don't think that winter is an opportune time to rearrange around the house. Although that might be true for the exterior of the home, there are tons of options you can pursue inside the house.

Simply organizing and decluttering your house is a huge step. You probably have a storage room somewhere in your home filled with things you don't want or need anymore. Pack them up and schedule a pick-up time with Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Donating is easy and tax-deductible, and your home will feel more spacious! It's a wonderful feeling to be free of all those things you can afford to get rid of.

You can also call contractors now to paint or move walls. Contractors tend to be less busy this time of year, so you can get someone in very quickly and at a better price than you would get in spring.

Finally, you can just freshen up the house. Updating light fixtures can make a huge difference. Clean the inside of your windows. As soon as it warms up, you should also clean the outside of the windows as well. Replace the light fixtures above your garage door and change out your front door handle. Remember, you never get a second chance at a first impression!

If you're interested in doing some work around your home, give us a call or send us an email. We have our own version of Angie's List -- Glenda's List -- so you can find plumbers, electricians, and more. We look forward to hearing from you!
